Montel Williams Wife, Children, Age, Death, Is He Gay?

Montel Williams is best known for his eponymous television talk show, The Montel Williams Show, which despite the occasional criticism it garnered, was highly successful, spanning 17 seasons and winning a few awards including a Daytime Emmy Awards. The syndicated show ended in 2008, after which its creator pursued other interests.

Montel Williams Bio (Age)

Williams was born on July 3, 1956 and was named Montel Brian Anthony Williams by his father Herman Williams Jr., he has 5 siblings. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Williams attended Andover High School located in nearby Linthicum, Maryland. He was very active during his high school years as class president from first to senior year, participating in school sports and musical events.

He graduated from high school in 1974, after which he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Wiliams will become the first African American to graduate from the Naval Academy Preparatory School and the USNaval Academy. He earned a generalist engineering degree and a minor in international security affairs.

For most of his service, Montel Williams served as a cryptologic agent and spent years in submarines. He served for 15 years in retirement at the rank of lieutenant commander. As a team leader of his crew in the Naval Security Fleet Support Division, Williams discovered his flair for public speaking with a focus on youth issues.

This would inspire him to start The MontelSpectacle Williams which was syndicated by CBS. Williams slowly dabbled in other areas of entertainment, including acting. After his show ended, Monte Williams focused on his work as a spokesperson for MoneyMutual and Card Geniuses, a poker instruction company. He also hosted a few infomercials.

wife and children

Montel Williams romanticized many women in his life, three of whom he took to the altar. As of this writing, the Army veteran is married to Tara Fowler, a former American Airlines flight attendant.

Williams popped the question in July 2006 in the presence of family and friends while they were having dinner at a Manhattan restaurant. Just over a year later, in October 2007, the couple tied the knot in a small ceremony on a beach in Bermuda. The couple had no children together.

Prior to Tara’s arrival, Williams was with two other women with whom he fathered four children.

His first marriage to Rochele See which lasted from 1982 to 1989 produced two children, daughters; Ashley Williams and Maressa Williams born in 1984 and 1988 respectively. Maressa successfully won two battles with cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, aka cancer of the lymphatic tissue in 2013. The cancer was discovered after she injured her spine in an accidental fall in October 2013 and required several MRI to determine the diagnosis. Maressa managed to fight off the disease the first time, but it reappeared a second time and emerged victorious.

His struggles with illness would inspire him to start a career in health care. She is a nursing student and now devotes most of her time to serving as an ambassador for the Lymphoma Research Foundation. She documented her experience on blog posts, including for Dr. Oz.

Wiliams’ other daughter, Ashley, is a professional makeup artist who studied at Makeup Designory.

Williams’ second marriage to Grace Morley which lasted from 1992 to 2000 also produced two children; a son, Montel Brian Hank Williams and a daughter named Wyntergrace Williams, born in 1993 and 1994 respectively. Montel Williams Jr is an MMA fighter while Wyntergrace is an aspiring Hollywood actress.

Is he gay?

As far as facts go, Montel Williams is not gay but a very straight man. His multiple marriages with women greatly testify to this. However, he is a strong advocate for LGBT rights, which sometimes makes people wonder if he is gay himself.

Williams once quit the airwaves of Billy O’Reilly’s show after his plans to speak about an LGBT speech he had given earlier in the day changed without notice.

Dead

Montel Williams is not dead but unfortunately not so well. Since 1999, the television personality has lived with multiple sclerosis. Williams had a near-death experience in May 2018 after ending up in the emergency room shortly after working out alone at a gym at his New York hotel. The case was diagnosed as a hemorrhagic stroke. He told The Blast in October 2018 how lucky he was to have survived this deadly disease. In an effort to help others, Williams founded the nonprofit Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. He is an advocate for the use of medical marijuana which he uses as part of his treatment for multiple sclerosis.
